IPL 2020: 5 players who might be axed from their team's Playing XI

It has already been two weeks since the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kick-started and set the stage on fire in the UAE. All the teams have played four matches each and Delhi Capitals have topped the table with three wins in their four games. Although Royal Challengers Bangalore have also won three matches, they are placed at the second position due to inferior net run rate.

The on-going IPL has rolled out some nerve-racking final over finishes and two dramatic Super Over finishes. So far, many new young talents like Devdutt Padikkal, Abdul Samad, Priyam Garg and Kamlesh Nagarkoti have announced themselves on the big stage.

Fans have witnessed some stunning performances from some individuals, who single-handedly won the games for their sides from nowhere. Meanwhile, fans have also witnessed some poor performances from some players who came into this year’s IPL with high expectations. These players might be dropped from the team in the near future. 1. Sunil Narine (KKR)

The Caribbean stalwart is a destructive all-rounder of the Kolkata franchise and is capable of opening the batting along with bowling in the Powerplay too. He’s one of the consistent players of the franchise since IPL 2012 and the left-hander came into this IPL after an excellent CPL, where he helped his team to win the title.

But things have gone wrong for Narine in the on-going IPL. He has failed in all 4 matches, scoring just 27 runs with the bat at a strike rate of 87.09 and an average of 6.75. Even with the ball in his hand, the off-spinner has picked just 2 wickets at an economy of 8.50 and an average of 59.50.

With the likes of Tom Banton and Chris Green looking for an opportunity to prove themselves in the cash-rich league, Sunil has to perform high in the upcoming matches to continue in the Playing XI of the franchise.
