As the crack-buster cricketing carnival, the 2020 IPL, enters into the third week since its commencement, a myriad of drama and theatrics have unfolded in front of the eyes of the eternal fans. From the edge-of-the-seat games to thumping victories, controlling emotions appears to be a treacherous task for the cricket fans.

Although many players displayed a propensity of mental strength and ‘performed’ in critical situations, some ‘succumbed’ to precarious conditions. Therefore, it goes without saying that the IPL has thrown the balls of opportunity to, apparently, all the budding talents. However, few grabbed it tightly and some dropped it in an unlikable manner.

On that note, this article attempts to deconstruct the names of those players who could not perform in the cash-rich league so far. Hence, they fit into the rules of mid-season transfer introduced by the BCCI in the 11th edition of the IPL. A number of massive players from each of the eight participating teams feature in the mid-season transfer club.

Before we start off with the names, let us take a glance on the rules of the amendment incurred in the world’s biggest cricketing league:

a) The franchises will be allowed to sign a player from other franchises at the halfway-mark of the season.

b) The player should not have played more than two matches till the halfway mark to be eligible for the transfer.

c) The transfer rule will come into effect once all the teams have played seven matches each.

So, without wasting any further time, let’s look at the list for mid-season transfers in IPL 2020:

The three-times champion under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni appears to be struggling in the 13th edition of the IPL. Albeit, the Men in Yellow outplayed Kings XI Punjab in the 18th match, the team continue to find the proper antidote to their middle-order conundrum.

In what could be a major blow in the arm of CSK was the fact that two of its legends Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina pulled out of the tournament even before its commencement. It eventually forced the team management to scratch their heads finding players who could fill the huge void.

Apparently, the yellow brigade have a plethora of players who may get an early release from the side. The names of KM Asif, Imran Tahir, Narayan Jagadeesan, Karn Sharma, Mitchell Santner, Monu Kumar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur, R Sai Kishore and Josh Hazlewood feature in the IPL list.
