In a now-deleted tweet, Rajasthan Royals youngster Riyan Parag had called himself sh*t for his failure to take his team over the line during the thrilling clash against Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Chasing an improbable 222 in their tournament-opener, RR put up a good fight but eventually fell short by just 4 runs as they finished on a commendable 217 for 6.

RR were on 123 for 4 in the 13th over when Parag joined skipper Sanju Samson in the middle. The highly-rated youngster hit the ground running and played some stunning shots to keep the chase on track. He hit 1 four and 3 sixes in no time before being undone by a short delivery from India star Mohammed Shami.

Parag walked off the field after scoring 25 runs off just 11 balls. His dismissal turned out to be a loss for RR as the likes of Rahul Tewatia and Chris Morris could not provide good support to Samson. The RR skipper waged a lone battle at one end and scored a stunning century on his captaincy debut only to see it go in vain.

Samson walked out to bat in the very first over after Ben Stokes departed for a duck. From thereon, he held firm from one and was dismissed only on the last ball of the match when he tried to hit a six to win the game for his team. RR needed 5 runs on the final ball to pull off a miraculous win but their captain fantastic could only miscue it to the fielder at long-off. Samson scored 119 off 63 balls. His innings were laced with 12 fours and 7 sixes.

 Riyan Parag angry at himself:

Soon after the game ended, Riyan Parag took to Twitter to criticize himself. The 19-year old, who also picked up the wicket of Chris Gayle in the game, wrote: “I’m sh*t”. The tweet went viral in no time as fans threw their support behind the disappointed teenager. But before his tweet could draw more reactions, Parag decided to delete it.
