Often called the mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy picked up 18 wickets in 17 appearances of the 2021 edition. His performances were one of the key reasons for the KKR team to do well in the second half and emerge as the runner-up.

Chakravarthy was one of the four retained players ahead of IPL 2022 but had an average start to the season, wherein he went wicket-less and proved to be a little expensive as well. Due to his dull performance, he was dropped from the team.

As the wicket became slow in the second half and started to assist spinners, the 30-year-old bowler was brought back into the team. After the comeback, he has been economical but has lacked the prowess to take wickets. In 11 matches of IPL 2022, he has six scalps at an economy of 8.51.
