After a disappointing outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will want to come back strongly in the tournament. To note, the Red Army registered their second-lowest total in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Faf du Plessis’ men had no answers for the disciplined bowling line-up of the Orange Army, as they were skittled out for just 68 runs.

The Red Army will face a tough competition against the in-form Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium, Pune on April 26 (Tuesday). To note, RCB is currently placed fifth on the points table with five wins in eight encounters.

The Challengers from Bangalore have defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI), RajasthanRoyals (RR), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, they have suffered defeats at the hands of Punjab Kings (PBKS, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and the current champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Despite getting bundled out for their second-lowest total in IPL, the Red Army will want to try out Rajat Patidar in place of Anuj Rawat in their playing XI for the upcoming encounter.

Here’s a look at Royal Challengers Bangalore’s predicted XI against Rajasthan Royals

Openers: Faf du Plessis (C) and Rajat Patidar

Both openers skipper Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat failed to get going in their previous encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). While Du Plessis was scalped for five runs, the opener Rawat got out without troubling the scorers. Skipper Faf du Plessis has played some excellent knocks in IPL 2022 scoring 255 runs in eight matches. He will want to perform well with the bat in the next game.

After some consistent failures, opener Anuj Rawat can make way for Rajat Patidar. The 28-year-old has played just four matches in IPL and has scored a total of 71 runs at an average of 17.75. If given chance, Patidar will want to prove his worth to the Red Army and become a permanent member of the playing XI.

Middle Order: Virat Kohli, Suyash Prabhudessai, and Dinesh Karthik (wk)

Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli is struggling to even open his account for the past two matches. After bagging a duck against LSG, Kohli was sent back to the pavilion after getting out on zero again in the previous encounter against SRH. The run machine is desperate to make some runs and will want to make a statement with the bat in the upcoming match.

Newcomer Suyash Prabudessai has not been able to create a good first impression in the middle order. The 24-year-old did score 15 runs in his previous encounter but failed to get going. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who has been in excellent touch in IPL so far, also failed to get going against the Orange Army. Both Suyash and Karthik will want to give a much better performance as compared to the previous match.

All-Rounders: Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Wanindu Hasaranga

In his five appearances in IPL 2022 so far, Glenn Maxwell has scored 124 runs including a half-century with his 55 against the Delhi Capitals being the highest. The right-arm spinner has only managed a solitary scalp with the ball in hand and a lot will depend on the Aussie star when he takes the field against the strong-looking bowling line-up of RR.

Left-handed batter Shahbaz Ahmed has been one of RCB’s star performers in the middle order so far this season. Ahmed has impressed with his quick runs making abilities having scored 178 runs from six innings. However, he failed to perform in the previous match and will want to contribute with both bat and ball in the upcoming encounter.

Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga might not have been much impactful with the bat but he has bowled some excellent spells for the Red Army. The right-handed spinner has done an exceptional job, having scalped 11 wickets in eight matches so far and he will be looking to get some vital wickets against his RR in the next group stage match.

Bowlers: Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, and Mohammed Siraj

Just like the previous season, pacer Harshal Patel has been amongst the wickets in this edition as well. The right-arm pacer was the only successful bowler for the Red Army in their previous match against SRH. He scalped the wicket of Abhishek Sharma who was batting on 47 runs in just 28 balls. The 31-year-old will want to continue his good form in the upcoming match as well.

Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood impressed everyone with his excellent bowling spell against LSG after registering figures of 4/25 at an economy rate of 6.20. However, the Australian quick failed to get any wickets in the previous match. Similarly, Mohammed Siraj has bowled well in patches, but he has not been at his best so far. Both Hazlewood and Siraj will want to take the priced wicket of Jos Buttler in their next encounter against RR to stop the run flow during the field restrictions.

RCB predicted playing XI against RR:

Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, Suyash Prabhudessai, Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj
