The IPL 2022 has so far got off to a good start with all the 10 participating teams trying their level best to outclass each other in this grueling two-month-long tournament. At the same time, two of the most successful teams, the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians, are currently the bottom-placed sides, having lost their first four matches.
As the IPL 2022 continues to provide wholesome entertainment, a new term ‘BASRA’ has come to light. Without further ado, let us understand what exactly the BASRA means and which of the players have the best BASRA in the history of the tournament.
Here’s all you need to know about BASRA
The term BASRA stands for Batting Average and Strike Rate Aggregate. It is the aggregate of batting average and the strike rate of a player. In the IPL, the list of top 10 players with best BASRA consist of eight batters and two all-rounders, with four Indians.
The ninth position is occupied by the Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya. He has a BASRA of 179.3 from 88 innings where he has amassed 1567 runs. Australian opener David Warner takes the eighth spot with a BASRA of 181.1 from 152 innings. The seventh and sixth positions are taken by the Indian duo of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul with BASRA of 182.1 and 182.7 from 88 and 89 innings respectively.
Dynamic batter Virender Sehwag comes at the fifth spot with a BASRA of 183 from 104 innings. A splendid IPL 2022 so far has helped England’s limited-overs specialist Jos Buttler take the fourth position. He has a BASRA of 186.8 from 67 innings. The third and second places are occupied by two of the batting icons – ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle and ‘Mr.360’ AB de Villiers with a BASRA of 149 and 151.7 from 141 and 170 innings respectively. Last but not least, Caribbean power-hitter Andre Russell takes the top spot with a BASRA of 209.6.
