The cricketing world is still in a state of shock over the actions of the Australian cricket team on the field during the Cape Town Test match on Saturday. The skipper Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner have already stepped down from their respective positions just before the start of day’s play on Sunday. There is a possibility that ICC and even Cricket Australia (CA) might take strict actions over the people involved in the ball-tampering incident. However, the IPL commissioner Rajeev Shukla has cleared his stance over the issue.

The likes of Smith and Warner are the captains of the Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is all set to commence on April 7. There were also reports that Royals have sacked the Aussie skipper as from the helm but nothing is confirmed as yet. Though there are question marks over their availability for the tournament now.

Rajeev Shukla gives an update

Rajeev Shukla, the IPL commissioner, has provided a crucial update over the involvement of the Australian cricketers in the tournament. He took to microblogging website Twitter to clear his stance that they are waiting for the decision of the world cricketing body to come up and then will take further steps in the ball-tampering incident. “On ball tampering issue, Ipl will wait for the decision of ICC and will act accordingly,” he tweeted.

Steve Smith, being the captain of the side, accepted that the plan to alter the condition of the ball with the yellow tape was a pre-meditated one with the leadership group being the part of it. Even Bancroft admitted his mistake during the press conference as the consequences of this event are going to be huge now. Cricket Australia has started their investigations and strict actions are expected to be taken by them along with ICC.
