So many twists. So much drama. And, for the second day in a row, the chasing side bungled up a relatively straightforward run chase. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side was cruising at 96/1 at the end of the 13th over and needed 54 runs from 42 deliveries. But then, in a drastic reversal of fortunes, the Hyderabad batsmen fell like a pack of cards and could only muster 143/9 in their allotted 20 overs and fell short of the target by 6 runs.

And, the 17th over of the SRH innings bowled by Shahbaz Ahmed turned the game on its head. The left-arm spinner scalped three wickets in the over and gave away just a solitary run as well. On the batting front, skipper David Warner scored a brisk 54 off 37 deliveries, and Manish Pandey scored 38 off 39 balls for Hyderabad.

Glenn Maxwell’s fifty propels RCB to a decent total

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) innings was mainly about Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli. While Kohli scored 33 off 29 deliveries, Maxwell anchored the RCB innings and scored a 41-ball 59 for the ‘Men in Red’. In fact, apart from Kohli and Maxwell, none of the RCB batsmen could even go past the 20-run mark.

The returning Devdutt Padikkal was removed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 3rd over of the RCB innings for 11. Shahbaz Ahmed, who came in at No.3, dazzled briefly before he holed out to Rashid Khan in the deep. AB de Villiers, Washington Sundar, and Dan Christian departed for single-digit scores.

For the ‘Orange Army’, Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers. The tall right-arm pacer bowled four overs, and scalped three wickets, giving away 30 runs. Apart from Holder, Afghan spinner Rashid Khan chipped in with a couple of wickets for the SRH side.

With this win, the Bangalore side has moved to the top of the points table, while the Hyderabad outfit occupies the second last place.
