The West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle recently had made some serious allegations on his former teammates Ramnaresh Sarwan in a Youtube video. He had termed the latter as worse than Coronavirus and had also claimed that Sarwan was the reason that the Jamaica Tallawahs released him ahead of the 2020 season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

However, the franchise has come up with a statement now clarifying that Sarwan, who is also the assistant coach of the Jamaica based team, had nothing to do with the decision. It also further stated the Universe Boss was not retained for the CPL 2020 only due to the business and cricketing reasons. Gayle had signed a three-year contract with the franchise last year but will play for St Lucia now this season alongside Darren Sammy.

“Gayle gave several reasons for the decision that was made not retain him in the Tallawahs. However, the truth is that this decision was made collectively by the Ownership and Management team which did not include Ramnaresh Sarwan and based purely on business and cricketing reasoning. Further, the Ownership and Management of the Tallawahs have no political affiliation with any political organization in any country of the Caribbean, the franchise said in a statement.

Jamaica Tallawahs also cleared that the decisions have been taken keeping in mind the performance of the team last year. They won only a couple of matches out of 10 in CPL 2019 and ended up  as bottom placed team in the points table.

“The Tallawahs had a very disappointing season in CPL 2019 where the team finished last in the tournament. The Ownership and Management team has exercised its rights in the selection of players for CPL 2020 for the betterment of the team,” the statement further read.

Sarwan, you are a snake, Chris Gayle had said

Earlier, Chris Gayle had released a series of videos on Youtube while taking a dig at Sarwan and also accused him of stabbing people in the back. “So someone has to be in the ears telling him to get rid of Gayle. Sarwan, you are worse than Coronavirus right now. What transpired with the Tallawahs, you had a big part to play. Sarwan, you are a snake.

“You know, you are not the most loved person in the Caribbean. You are still stabbing people in the back,” Chris Gayle had said earlier this week.
