Jaydev Unadkat responds after sinking in the tense moments of the IPL auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has got a good old history of producing some of finest stories of making of the young talents and also aspiring the motivations in those who have been there for a while. The competition acts as a huge platform for the cricketers from all parts of the world to showcase their enormous talent and worth at the grandest stage. A similar enriching moment arrived for left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat at the 2018 IPL auction, who was very much thrilled to witness the franchises going in a flaming pace to acquire his services for the upcoming season.

I totally went blank at that moment

Unadkat was doing his routine fitness drills and practicing along with some of his Saurashtra teammates, while on the other side all the eight franchises were involved in the intense bidding wars at the auction table. In an exclusive conversation with the Mid-day, the bowler stated that he totally went blank when his name was going the buzz in the auction. He mentioned that it was nice to handle this sinking moment along with his teammates, which helped him to enlighten this all tense situation.

“I went blank at that moment. I did not understand what was happening. I was going with the flow and thinking for whom I will get to play for. It was good that I was with my teammates as that tense moment got lightened up a bit. I kind of froze for a while,” said Unadkat as quoted by the mid-day.

My focus was not much on the money part

Eventually, he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for a astounding amount of Rs 11.5 crores, after some fierce bidding battles between the franchises. He also became the most the expensive Indian player at the 2018 IPL auction. The Indian fast bowler revealed that he was not thinking much about his value at the auctions but at the same felt very much heartening to see that the teams stretched their purse to grab him.

“I didn’t want to focus too much on the money part. It is heartening to see that the teams stretched their purse to get me. It was heartening to see the teams having so much confidence in me,” added the Saurashtra bowler.
