England’s pace sensation Jofra Archer has signed a new one-year contract extension with Sussex and will remain at the county until the end of 2023 season. Archer made his debut for the county in 2016, and he has an impressive record with 181 wickets at an average of 24.9 in 43 first-class games. In fact, his numbers had a lot of experts talking about him and soon found a place in England’s Test side in 2019.

So far, Archer has played 13 Tests, picking up 42 wickets with three five-wicket hauls, and he has been out of action for a long time now with an elbow injury. He is a match-winner with the ball and is quite handy down the order with the bat as well. With his ability to generate speeds above 150/Kmph consistently, England would be hoping for him to return to action soon.

I hope to be able to contribute to more Sussex victories: Jofra Archer

Archer mentioned the tough time he had to go through as he planned for a comeback from injury with his Sussex stint. He expressed his delight over the extension of his contract with Sussex and mentioned that he wants to contribute to the team soon.

“It’s been a difficult few months not being able to represent Sussex when the plan had been to return to the Sharks team after my elbow injury, so I am really happy to extend my contact and hope to be able to contribute to more Sussex victories in the future,” Archer was quoted as saying by Sussexcricket.co.uk

Meanwhile, the Sussex Head Coach, Ian Salisbury, was happy to announce the contract extension of Archer and mentioned their love for him on the side. He added the importance of having a player of Archer’s quality in the county.

“It’s great news that Jof has signed an extension, he is Sussex through and through and everyone loves having him here,” Salisbury told. “He is already a legend at this club, so it is massively important to have someone of his stature around the place.
