South Africa is currently dominating the fourth and final Test of their series against Australia at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. They have been exceptional in all departments and have got the visitors on the mat. However, despite their rich vein of form, the Proteas have had their own set of problems surrounding injuries to key players.
Recently, Kagiso Rabada has suffered a back injury during Australia’s first innings. He has been stupendous with the leather in the series and has been able to ruffle the feathers of the Australian batsmen. Meanwhile, the word for the South African camp is that he would be able to bowl in the second innings, however, he won’t be at his very best.
Rabada’s injury- A concern for South Africa and Delhi Daredevils
The Proteas have been encountered with injuries to several players in the fourth Test itself. Morne Morkel, who is playing his last Test of his career, has suffered a side strain. He has taken painkillers prior to the day’s play and has come out with heavy strapping in order to beat the discomfort. Moreover, Faf du Plessis has also been hit on the fingers during South Africa’s second innings.
Meanwhile, Rabada’s injury also means that Vernon Philander is the only fit pacer who will be bowling during Australia’s run chase. Rabada was also slated to participate in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League. The Delhi Daredevils used the Right to Match (RTM) card on the right-arm fast bowler and Rabada’s injury is definitely going to be a concern for them.
Meanwhile, the South Africans have racked up a massive lead and they are well and truly in the ascendancy as far as result of the series is a concern. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Rabada shapes up during the final innings of the Test series.
