Kedar Jadhav enjoying the 'healthy competition' for all-rounders' slots

Three years back, Kedar Jadhav was not even on the peripheral edge of making it to the Indian side, but as it stands, he is one of the most important figures heading into the coveted World Cup. The all-rounder is throwing up a thread of impressive performances, which should seal his spot in the World Cup squad.

With MS Dhoni ageing and not being the blazing finisher he once was, there was a void briefly in the setup which eventually was filled by Jadhav. The 33-year-old strikes boundaries at will and is capable of doing a lot of things, from building an innings patiently to finishing one ruthlessly.

Bigger challenges await the Maharashtra cricketer who currently is enjoying one heck of a time as an international cricketer. After the second ODI between India and New Zealand where he scored a 10-ball 22 and picked up the wicket of Ross Taylor with the ball, he said the competition for the all-rounders’ slot is good for the team.

“It is a good thing for any team that more guys are competing for one spot. So every time any guy gets an opportunity, he will know that he needs to perform,” said Jadhav as quoted in Times Now News.

Talking to media after the game, he said that selection is in the hands of no player and everyone should be accepting that fact. He also pointed that all of them have to be at the top of their game to represent a side like India in the World Cup and he hoped that the best 15 will be on their way to England.

“It’s not about what I think about my selection. Whether I accept it or not, it’s not in my hands, It is the selector’s call and the best 15 will go. Everybody is trying to put their best foot forward and when you play for India, there is bound to be competition and you have to be at the top of your game” said Jadhav.
