The former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has confirmed that he will retire from all forms of the game after the conclusion of Big Bash League (BBL). He has time and again reiterated the fact in the past about him not continuing to play after the T20 extravaganza in Australia. Pietersen has already retired from international cricket long ago after he was axed from the side controversially after the 2013-14 Ashes debacle. However, he would love to enjoy his last few days as a cricketer and entertain his fans.

Kevin is currently playing in the ongoing edition for Melbourne Stars who are struggling to win a single game out of their four outings. He has scored 80 runs in three innings so far at a decent strike rate of 125 and would like to improve these numbers one last time before bidding adieu. His exploits in the middle would also do a world of good to the fortunes of his team and maybe they come back to the winning ways in BBL.

KP confirms in a tweet

Kevin Pietersen himself confirmed his retirement from all forms of cricket by taking to microblogging website Twitter. He informed his followers in a message which read, “Confirming that this is my last BBL as a player! By the time BBL starts later this yr I cannot see myself wanting to improve or try & get better. That means it’s time to finish! I’ll enjoy playing my last few games at the Adelaide Oval, SCG & MCG!”

Pietersen has entertained his fans throughout his career and has been admired by many. Though his career for England ended with a controversy, he managed to play 104 Test matches for his country scoring 8181 runs at an amazing average of 47.28. He even featured in 136 ODIs and scored his 4440 runs at 40.73 with nine tons of 25 half-centuries. It would be interesting to see though if he features in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) which seems highly unlikely as of now.
