After the first week of the Kia Super League 2019, only two sides have not opened their points tally yet – Lancashire Thunder and Yorkshire Diamonds. The two teams will now face off in Liverpool on Tuesday with at least one of the two sides opening their tally by end of the match. Lancashire Thunder has suffered defeats in all the three matches and all have been by big margins.
While their bowling has been decent, it is their top-order that lacked consistency in this tournament. On the other hand, the Yorkshire Diamonds’ journey hasn’t been up to the mark. The Diamonds fell nine runs short of Surrey Stars’ total in their first game. In the second match against the Loughborough Lightning, their total of 121/6 was chased down with 40 balls to spare.
The 10th match of the Kia Women’s Super League 2019 will be played between Lancashire Thunder and Yorkshire Diamonds at the Aigburth in Liverpool.
The match starts at 2:30 PM local time (7:00 PM IST) (1:30 PM GMT).
Aigburth is expected to be cloudy on Tuesday with no rain during the match timings. However, there is a possibility of a delayed start due to rain until 12 PM local time.
The Aigburth ground hasn’t witnessed big totals in the KSL. However, the short boundaries at the venue could witness 140+ totals. However, the lack of consistency in Lancashire and Yorkshire teams might not produce a high-scoring game.
Average first innings score: 131 (Women’s Twenty20s)

Since not many players have done well in all games so far, the likes of Tahlia McGrath and Alice Davidson-Richards could get points with both bat and ball for their respective teams.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Alyssa Healy, Harmanpreet Kaur, Lauren Winfield
Vice-Captain – Sune Luus, Tahlia McGrath, Jemimah Rodrigues
Players of both the teams have been quite inconsistent in this tournament. However, Harmanpreet Kaur has been somewhat better among the given options due to her exploits at the death overs.
Suggested Playing XI for Head to Head/Small Leagues:
Keeper – Alyssa Healy
Batsmen – Lauren Winfield, Jemimah Rodrigues (VC), Harmanpreet Kaur (C)
All-Rounders – Leigh Kasperek, Tahlia McGrath, Emma Lamb, Sune Luus
Bowlers – Alex Hartley, Linsey Smith, Alice Davidson-Richards
Suggested Playing XI for Grand Leagues/Mega Leagues:
Keeper – Alyssa Healy (C)
Batsmen – Lauren Winfield, Harmanpreet Kaur, Georgia Boyce, Jemimah Rodrigues
All-Rounders – Sophia Dunkley, Emma Lamb, Tahlia McGrath (VC)
Bowlers – Sophie Ecclestone, Linsey Smith, Alice Davidson-Richards
Tahlia McGrath seems to be the best choice from the all-rounders category for this game. The Australian all-rounder has two 20+ scores in three matches but is yet to pick a wicket. Batting at No.3 improves McGrath’s fantasy potential.
Lancashire Thunder is expected to register their first win if they can keep the Yorkshire Diamonds’ top-order quite.
