The Kings XI Punjab had yet another poor outing in the IPL. They finished at the penultimate position in the points table in the IPL 2018. While the season was a collective failure for the franchise, a couple of players came really good for them in the season. Andrew Tye finished as the Purple Cap winner and opener KL Rahul finished the season as one of the top five run getters.

Recently, in a conversation with the official website of the Kings XI Punjab, KL Rahul reflected back at how things went for his side. When asked to pick his favorite moment from the league, Rahul picked his very first innings in the Kings outfit. He had slammed a 14-ball fifty against the Delhi Daredevils. With the effort, he entered the record books for the fastest fifty in the tournament history.

“I think it’s the first game when I got a 14-ball 50. It was absolutely unbelievable! I completely outdid myself there. I still am amazed that I got the fastest fifty in the IPL ever and it kind of set the tone for the reason of the season as well. I am grateful for a lot of things this season. I have made great friends along the way, great memories, there has been a lot of learning,” KL Rahul quoted.

On his favorite KXIP moment off the field

KL Rahul was then asked to pick his favorite moment off the field with the Kings camp. Rahul recalled that the fun activity of paintball with the team was some serious fun. He laughed his heart out at some of the crazy moments that the players shared.

“The second day I joined the camp and we all went paint-balling. I think that was quite funny and there were a lot of incidents from that day that I will remember. There were a few good ones and there were a lot of crazy ones,” Rahul remarked.

Message to the fans

Lastly, KL Rahul took time to appreciate the support of the fans. He noted that he loved being a part of the franchise and to see people coming in large numbers to support them was indeed overwhelming. The KXIP opener assured the fans that the team will certainly do better in the seasons to come. He went on to quote that a trophy is not very far away. Well, he looks like a man on a mission.

“It was really nice to be a part of the Kings XI Punjab. I have always loved Punjabi people because of the way they live their lives to the fullest. They are always happy, singing and dancing, and they are very warm people. The fans came in big numbers this year in the three games we played in Mohali. They supported us, and that helped us win. We only want to get better and better and keep entertaining our crowd,” mentioned the KXIP opener.

“Just want to tell them that this is a different team, just to forget about the 10 years that have happened before and forget about this year. We will take the good memories, but we will come back stronger and keep entertaining them. I can promise that the trophy isn’t too far away for King XI. The team is looking great and I am feeling confident. We will make sure that the crowd gets what they want,” he mentioned further.
