Preview

Bangladesh will lock horns with England in the 1st ODI match of the England tour of Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday (March 1). Bangladesh and England have quite the opposite recent records in ODIs. England just broke their losing streak with a win against South Africa in a dead rubber, while Bangladesh have won three of their last five matches and seems to be in relatively good form.

Bangladesh squared off against India in their last match, where Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field. India lost an early wicket, but what came next was bizarre, to say the least, as Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli joined hands together and wrecked carnage. Kishan scored a mammoth 210. Bangladesh received a target of 410 to win but never actually came to the chase. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for a mere score of 182, thus losing the match by 227 runs. Bangladesh won the series by a margin of 2-1.

England faced South Africa in their last encounter South Africa won the toss and elected to field. England lost an early wicket, but brilliant centuries from Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler kept them in the game, and the rest of the middle order gave a bright finish. England posted a total of 346 for the loss of seven wickets. South Africa started well and were marching ahead with the required run rate. However, they kept losing wickets regularly, which came to bite them in the end as they could not even bat for the entire 50 overs. They were all out at a score of 287 and hence lost the match by 59 runs.
