Melbourne Stars Women (MS-W) will lock horns against Sydney Thunder Women (ST-W) in the 25th match of the Women's Big Bash League 2022 (WBBL) season at Eastern Oval in Ballarat on Monday. Melbourne Stars beat the Renegades in their last game to register their first win of this season from the opening five matches. Sophie Day took four wickets to bowl out the Renegades on just 91 runs while bowling first and then Annabel Sutherland smashed an unbeaten 42 runs off 48 balls to guide her team to a big six-wicket win with 15 balls remaining.

Sydney Thunder suffered another defeat in their last game against Brisbane Heat by just three runs on a D/L method. They scored 139/7 while batting first with opener Pheobe Litchfield scoring 50 runs off 38 balls and captain Rachael Haynes smashing 38 runs. The experienced Kiwi pacer Lea Tahuhu took three wickets as the Heat managed to score 120/5 in 17.2 overs and were declared the winner later on the D/L method. With this defeat, they are struggling at 7th position with just one win from the opening six games this season.
