Preview

Yorkshire will lock horns with Lancashire in the 33rd match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at the Headingley in Leeds on June 1. Yorkshire have won just one of their four matches and are placed in the sixth position in the rankings of the North Group. Lancashire, on the other hand, have won three out of their four matches and are placed third in the standings of the North Group.

Yorkshire had played against Nottinghamshire in their last match, where Yorkshire won the toss and they chose to bat. Choosing to bat, they started decently but then lost two wickets in quick succession. However, a 50-run stand for the third wicket calmed down the nervousness. Dawid Malan stayed till the end, providing them with the finishing they would have wanted and posting a strong 182 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Nottinghamshire lost a wicket early but were in a steadied chase after that. They maintained a proper run rate and went ahead without losing too many wickets. Strangely, due to some miscalculation from their side, even after a decent chase, they fell short of eight runs, and Yorkshire won the match.

Lancashire squared off against Warwickshire in their last encounter, where Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat. It was a match Lancashire would like to forget as soon as possible and move on ahead in the tournament. They could not even bat 15 overs and kept losing wickets regularly. This resulted in them getting all-out for a mere score of 98 runs on the board. With not too big a total to chase, Warwickshire didn’t show any rush and were scoring decently. Although they lost some quick wickets in the middle, their captain Alex Davies stood his ground and took his team home. Warwickshire chased down the total with more than five overs to spare and easily won the match by seven wickets.
