M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore: History  

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was originally named the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Stadium in 1969 for a brief period. However, the ground was eventually changed and named after M Chinnaswamy, who was involved in the administration of cricket in Karnataka for nearly four decades. In addition to this, he was also the president of the Indian board from 1977 to 1980 

The stadium was renovated in 1996 prior to the high-voltage ODI World Cup clash between India and Pakistan. Home to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the stadium hosted the first-ever match of the lucrative T20 competition in 2008.

The 22-yard strip at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is a treat for the batters. Considering the lightening quick outfield and the smaller dimensions of the ground, high-scoring contests as usually expected at the venue and bowlers and are usually on their toes to restrict the rival teams from scoring big.

Rohit Sharma notched up his first ODI double hundred on this ground, registering 209 runs against Australia in 2013. Impressively, it is the same venue where Ireland handed England, a shock defeat. They beat England in the 2011 World Cup clash as Kevin O'Brien slammed a 50-ball 100, the fastest hundred in a WC match.  

In 2013, Chris Gayle scored the highest individual score in T20s, getting an unbeaten 175 runs off just 66 balls for RCB against Pune Warriors India. In the process, RCB also registered the highest total in T20s - 263 runs in the first innings.
