Mohammad Amir has been one of the vital cogs of Pakistan team ever since he has made a come back to international cricket. His left-arm swing bowling has troubled the best in the business and certainly, his second coming to the highest level of the game is no less than a story of the decade. As it stands now, Amir is the best bowler the Men in Green possess and they would love to see him play for many more years.

He is currently enjoying a break from the game after being involved in the Zimbabwe tour where they played a T20I tri-series against the hosts and Australia and then played a five-match ODI series against the home side. Amir though was not part of the playing XI in all the matches as the team management is managing his workload going into the World Cup next year.

Who is the batsman?

In a candid interview with ESPN Cricinfo, Mohammad Amir picked Steve Smith as the toughest batsman of the current era he has bowled to. He praised the former Aussie captain for his impeccable technique while also believing that he was unlucky not being able to bowl at Brian Lara. “It would’ve been a dream come true. For me he was the toughest batsman of that era,” he said.

He also went on to say that the left-arm seamer wants to create a unique record during his career. He wants to pick a hat-trick in all the three formats of the game. “I want three hat-tricks. A hat-trick each in all three formats,” Amir added.

Interestingly, when he was asked about one rule he would like to change in cricket, like many fast bowlers, he was in favour of scrapping the free-hits off the no-balls. Amir will soon be back in the action in the upcoming Asia Cup which is set to commence on September 15.
