While many were speculating about his retirement after taking the match ball from the umpires, the veteran was busy with this gesture which must have won the heart of the many around. There is a lot of fan-following for the Men in Blue in England which was evident during the T20Is and ODIs as well. Even the skipper of the hosts, Eoin Morgan, has admitted that it feels like an away game while playing against India courtesy of the massive fans they have all over the world.

Team India’s fan club ‘Lancashire Bharat Army’ whose members attend their matches in England and provide them great support. Their Twitter account confirmed the news of Dhoni gifting the gloves to one of the fans, before embarking on the return journey to the team hotel after the third ODI.

How did Dhoni fare in ODI series?

MS Dhoni didn’t have a fruitful series this time around and it felt like the opposition had got the measure of him everytime he walked out to bat. At Headingley, his knock of 42 runs off 66 balls was decent given the situation of the game but he was dismissed at the crucial stage. He failed to finish the innings on a high and the Men in Blue fell 25-30 runs short of their target.

He reached the milestone of 10,000 runs in the 50-overs format though and became only the fourth Indian to reach the landmark. He also completed 300 catches as a wicketkeeper to enter into the record books for the umpteenth time in his career.
