Both wicketkeeper MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, the Indian all-format captain, are influential personalities as far as cricket is concerned. Supporters get glued to their television screens whenever the duo plies their trade on the cricket pitch. The colossus figures are expected to play massive roles in India’s campaign in the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.

However, as far as fandom is concerned, Dhoni is a tad above Virat in that quotient. The YouGov Influencer Index 2018 covered consumer perception of around 60 top Bollywood celebrities and sports personalities. The same is based on the data collected online among close of 1948 respondents with a panel of over 6 million people across the globe.

Kohli above ‘King Khan’

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone are placed in the first and second place. MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, the retired Indian cricketer, holds the number three and four spot. On the contrary, Kohli is slotted at the sixth position, also below Bollywood ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar. Nevertheless, Virat is above the likes of Amir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

“The overall influencer index is an average of awareness, likability, trust and individual sector influence score. The top ten list is dominated by male Bollywood celebrities and cricketers, however, Deepika Padukone is the top ranked female celebrity in the list,” YouGov was quoted as saying in Hindustan Times.

Dhoni and Kohli have had stupendous careers in international cricket. The former is the only skipper in the world to have won all the three ICC trophies. He made his debut in 2004 against Bangladesh and raised his game enough to be regarded as one of the best India have ever produced.

On the other hand, Virat recently became the fastest batsman to notch 10,000 ODI runs, surpassing Sachin, who took 54 more innings to reach the milestone. He is now set to play the T20I series against Australia, which starts today at The Gabba in Brisbane.
