The ever-increasing craze of social media though has its positive, it sometimes also attracts a few unwanted scenarios. Every single post of the celebrities is closely observed by the on-lookers and more often than not there are reactions coming in from them on the same. Though not easy, some of them find a way to ignore it. While some on the other hand have their own trick to give it back wisely.

Recently South Africa’s former fast bowler Dale Steyn also got involved in some silly banter on Twitter.  Well, it wasn’t a very big thing but eventually became a matter of discussion for the Twitter users. Steyn was a bit late in wishing Australia spinner Nathan Lyon for scalping 400 Test wickets. By doing so the spinner became only the fourth Australian bowler to achieve this illustrious feat.

He achieved the milestone after dismissing England’s Dawid Malan on Day 4 of the first Ashes Test. The cricketing fraternity chimed in with congratulatory messages for Lyon across the social media platforms. The likes of Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting, and other greats came forward to wish the spinner on his incredible achievement. Steyn was thus a notable absentee then but he did come up with the Tweet a tad bit later.

“Take a bow, Nathan Lyon. 400 strong! Keep going bud! Congratulations,” Steyn wrote in the Tweet.

However, a fan then came up with a reply and asked the former Proteas pacer so as to why he was late in wishing Lyon. Stating the reason for the same, Steyn wrote, “Yes I apologize as my grandfather passed away and I was with him and my family during that time.”

After this Tweet, Steyn received quite a few condolence messages but there were a few users who came up with friendly banters and stated that he should have wished Lyon earlier. Responding to them, the former speedster came up with a sarcastic Tweet.

“Some silly banter going around as I’m a little late in congratulating Nathan for his 400th poll. My apologies, I’ll be sure to put my family tragedies aside next time as cricket is clearly more important,” Steyn’s tweet read.
