An impressive Ranji Trophy season where he played a huge role in the Vidarbha team’s maiden title victory has changed a lot of things for young Rajneesh Gurbani. He is now considered among the most prominent fast bowling prospects in the country and has taken the first step towards his dream. The national selectors rewarded his 39 wickets in the tournament with a spot in the India A team for the tour of England.

Gurbani there will be playing under the watchful eyes of head coach Rahul Dravid. More than anything else the 25-year-old is excited to be in the side which is coached by the former Indian skipper. The right-arm pacers wants to pick his brains and impress him with his bowling as Dravid hasn’t seen him in action yet.

“I am excited and eagerly waiting to learn new things from him (Dravid). He has not seen me, so I will try to get as much knowledge from him as possible,” Gurbani was quoted as saying on News18.

Dream is to play for India

He has his eyes set on the Indian jersey but at the same time is extremely grateful for being named in the India A side which is just one step from the highest level.

“My dream is to play for India and this is a step ahead, one step before the international level. I know if I do good, maybe I will be in the eyes of selectors and I can prove myself. But at present, I am not thinking about it because that is my ultimate goal,” Gurbani added.

The pacer now wants to live up to the expectations from him and wants to make this opportunity in England count.

On the tour, Karun Nair led India A will play a four-day match against England Lions from July 16-19 at Worcester. On the tour, they will also feature in two three-day matches against English county sides.
