The world has come to a standstill due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The pandemic has halted all human activities and it has also taken a toll on the sporting scenario. Major tournaments including the much-awaited IPL 2020 have been postponed in the wake of the pandemic and cricketers are left with no choice but to spend their idle time on social media.

A plethora of cricketers have joined the social media bandwagon. From Yuzvendra Chahal to Rohit Sharma, all have been quite active on their social media accounts since the start of the lockdown. Recently, Rohit was in conversation with two India Women stars– Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues. The trio had a blast in the video as they discussed many on-field as well as off-field instances.

India Women‘s swashbuckling player Smriti Mandhana also shared a hilarious instance when she was hit by Mohammed Shami’s in-dipper. Smriti recalled an incident when Shami was bowling at 120 kph for Mandhana and had promised that he won’t bowl on Mandhana’s body. However, on the third ball, the delivery hit Smriti’s inner thigh and it got swollen for 10 days.

‘I got beaten for first two balls’: Smriti Mandhana

“I remember playing Shami bhaiyya (Mohd Shami) during his rehab time. He was bowling at 120 kph for us. He promised me that he wouldn’t bowl on my body and he assured me of bowling at 5th or 6th stump,” revealed Smriti in the video shared by Baseline Ventures on YouTube.

“I got beaten for first two balls as I was not used to the pace. On the third ball, his in-dipper got hit on my inner thigh and it got swollen for 10 days,” she added during the chat.

Since breaking into the national side in 2013, Smriti has delivered many impressive performances for the Women in Blue. The left-handed batswoman has amassed 2025 runs in 51 One-day Internationals at an impressive average of 43.08. She also has 4 tons and 17 half-centuries under her belt in ODIs.

Talking about the shortest format of the game, the 23-year-old has scored 1716 runs including 12 half-centuries in a T20I career spanning over 75 games. Amid the quarantine period, the India Women duo– Smriti and Jemimah– has been quite active across the social media. Both the India Women stalwarts have dished out many hilarious videos and photos for their fans.
