Najam Sethi would leave no stone unturned for hosting PSL finals at Karachi

The prime mover for bringing back international cricket back at home, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi, ensured that the finals of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) would be held in Karachi.

During the second edition of PSL, Sethi made sure that the final of Pakistan’s premier T20 competition was held at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The match was played between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. Stars such as David Malan, Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels and many others participated in the event.

As a result, the successful hosting of the event convinced the ICC officials regarding the security arrangements in the country. Therefore, the International Cricket Council (ICC) sent the star-studded World XI squad featuring renowned named from all cricketing nations for a 3-match T20I series. Following the Independence Cup, Sri Lanka and West Indies also agreed to tour the country for bilateral T20I competition.

It was recently learnt that the next step for Pakistan cricket for the full-restoration of the international action in the country is convincing cricketers to play at the iconic National Stadium, Karachi which has witnessed many enthralling contests over the years.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi stated that preparations in Karachi for hosting PSL matches is going at full swing. He then updated that the dates for the upcoming West Indies tour would also be announced soon.

It was only in the recent development that Sethi visited the Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, to discuss bringing 2-4 PSL matches to Karachi. Sethi requested the masses for good luck on Twitter prior to his meeting with the minister.

It is also learnt that supporters have been eagerly waiting for Karachi to host the matches of PSL. The last piece of international action the ground saw was back in the infamous series against Sri Lanka in 2009, remembered for the triple century from Younis Khan.
