The Nidahas Trophy 2018 came to a fitting end with the pre-tournament favorites team India lifting the title. They beat the spirited Bangladeshi side in the finals of the tournament for the ultimate glory. Earlier in the series, the hosts, Sri Lanka, had to bow out of the competition after two defeats against the Bangladeshi side.

In all fairness, it was safe to assume that it was a shame to see the hosts crash out of the tournament that was being played to mark the independence celebration for their country. In any case, as the adage goes, the best sides locked horns in the finals. In the finals, it was a befitting glory for the new look Indian setup. The Bangladeshi also put up a very brave fight till the very end.

During the course of the tournament, several veteran stars rose to the occasion, from Rohit Sharma to Mahmudullah. At the same time, many young guns made a name for themselves too. The likes of Washington Sundar and Vijay Shankar have come out as bright prospects. While the positives were many, there were a few names who let down their sides big time. Here we take a look at such names who had a disappointing time in the series.

Here are the 5 flop players of Nidahas Trophy 2018:

1. Soumya Sarkar

Bangladeshi batsman Soumya Sarkar entered the tournament as a promising name. He has been in the international arena for quite some time. And hence, many believed, it was high time he started contributing more for the team. However, Sarkar had a very tame series. He could only muster 50 runs in five matches in the series.

He started off on a low note with 14 to his name in the first game against India. In the next game, he got off to a good start with 24 to his name, but could not really get going from thereon. The side persisted with his services and he played in the finals too. But he got out cheaply on 1 in the big game.
