Imam-ul-Haq looked in good touch with the bat during the second ODI between Pakistan and West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium on June 10 (Friday). The Windies bowlers were unable to find a way to dismiss him and at one stage it appeared as if he would register a big score.

Unfortunately for him, an awkward mix-up while running between the wickets brought an abrupt end to his stay at the crease, and as the southpaw walked back to the pavilion. He reacted angrily after gettting dismissed in an unfortunate manner. Meanwhile, the person with whom Imam was involved in a misunderstanding while attempting a quick run was skipper Babar Azam himself.

This happened on the penultimate delivery of the 28th over bowled by Akeal Hosein. Babar Azam had just completed his half-century and he and Imam were looking well-set in the middle, having added 120 runs for the second wicket. Imam guided the ball towards mid-wicket and attempted a risky single instantly. However, Babar showed no interest as he kept on watching the ball which was collected by the fielder.

By the time Azam turned back, the left-hander had almost reached the non-strikers’ end. A loud shout of ‘keeper’ ‘keeper’ could be heard and the fielder Nicholas Pooran showed a great presence of mind by throwing the ball to stumper Shai Hope who cleanly collected the ball and whipped the bails off in ecstasy. Meanwhile, Imam who failed to come back at the striker’s end, jammed his bat on the ground in disgust, yelled in frustration and took a long walk back to the pavilion.

The video of this run-out was posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on their official Twitter handle. Take a look.

Meanwhile, Imam went back after scoring a run-a-ball 72. Babar Azam top-scored for the Men in Green with 77, and some good finishing touches from the middle and the lower order towards the end, powered the hosts to a challenging total of 275/8.
