Pakistan bounced back from a Super Over defeat against Zimbabwe to take a 1-0 lead over them in the 3-match T20I series. Young all-rounder Wesley Madhevere’s unbeaten 70 came in only 48 deliveries as Zimbabwe got a decent total of 156/6 in their 20 overs. The visitors did pick a couple of wickets early on but the required rate wasn’t big enough to put pressure on Pakistan. Skipper Babar Azam (82 off 55) and Mohammad Hafeez shared an 80-run partnership for the 3rd wicket in only 9.1 overs to ease the chase.
Here are all the statistical highlights recorded during Pakistan’s 6-wicket win during PAK vs ZIM 1st T20I:
Pakistan continues their winning streak against Zimbabwe:
12-0 – Pakistan won each of the 12 Twenty20 International matches they played against Zimbabwe. Their head to head record of 12-0 against Zimbabwe is the most one-sided battle in the history of T20I cricket.
A big knock from Babar:
82 – Babar Azam’s 82-run knock during the PAK vs ZIM 1st T20I is now the highest innings by a Pakistan captain during a T20I chase. Babar broke his own record which he recorded with 66* against Bangladesh during the Lahore T20I earlier this year.
Overall, Babar’s inning is the 3rd highest in the T20I format for a Pakistan captain behind 89* by Sarfaraz Ahmed in the 2018 Edinburg T20I against Scotland while Mohammad Hafeez made 86 during the 2013 Centurion T20I against South Africa.
Madhevere steps up for Zimbabwe:
20y 64d – Wesley Madhevere, during the PAK vs ZIM 1st T20I, became the youngest player to score a T20I fifty for Zimbabwe. Brendan Taylor was the previous youngest to score a T20I fifty for Zimbabwe as he was 21 years and 218 days old when he scored an unbeaten 60 against Australia in 2007 WT20; which was also the first-ever T20I fifty recorded for Zimbabwe.

70* – Madhevere’s unbeaten 70-run knock is now the highest T20I score while batting at No.4 and lower for Zimbabwe. It is also the 2nd highest T20I score for Zimbabwe by a non-opener behind Brendan Taylor’s 75* against New Zealand in the 2012 Hamilton T20I.

Babar @ 1000 runs:
