The International Cricket Council (ICC) have received a legal notice issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) addressing the issues related to bilateral series between India and Pakistan. The PCB wants the council to introduce a Dispute Resolution Committee to look into this whole matter in which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clarified their stake on not playing a bilateral series with the arch-rivals. Both the cricketing nations have not played each other in a series since 2012.

Earlier, PCB also had sent a notice to the Indian cricket board regarding the MoU failures and the guaranteed bilateral series, which have not been played. The PCB had also stated they take this matter to the court against BCCI for not meeting the deeds of the agreement. However, the BCCI has a clear answer that the MoU only comes into play, after the approval of the Indian government.

A three-member panel likely to be formed

As per the reports on Geo.tv, the ICC is likely to set up a three-member panel which will include Hon Michael Beloff QC, the chairman of Disputes Resolution Committee and the other two members being nominated by the two boards who are parties in the contract. It is also to be noted that the whole proceedings of this matter will be governed in accordance with the British laws. The PCB had sent a big legal notice to the Indian board demanding compensation for its claims, earlier this year in May.

“The legal notice has been sent after our legal advisors consulted a reputable law firm in London and have prepared a strong legal case to get compensation from the Indians,” said a source in the month of May 2017.

Both the BCCI and PCB had initially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which stated that the two cricketing nations would play eight bilateral series in the period from 2015 to 2023. After the signing, looking at the behaviour of Pakistan outside the cricket world, the BCCI has failed to get proper clearance from the Indian government for the bilateral series between the two nations. On the other hand, the PCB have always denied the other non-cricketing issues made by the Indian central government.
