The coronavirus pandemic has changed a lot of things around the world. But, one of the major changes which were brought to cricket was the absence of crowds. Pakistan Super League was the first tournament to face this when some of the matches towards the end of the 2020 edition had to be played behind closed doors. Even when the knockout stages of the tournament were played in late 2020, PCB couldn’t allow fans due to the COVID-19 risks.

However, there is some good news for the fans in Pakistan as the stadium will open again for the PSL 2021 and crowds will be allowed. Even the recently concluded T20I series between Pakistan and South Africa was played without any crowds. The sixth edition of the PSL is scheduled to begin on February 20 at the National Stadium in Karachi, with Karachi Kings playing against Quetta Gladiators.

Where to buy PSL tickets?

However, not all seats will be available. As per the reports which have emerged from Pakistan, only 20% of the total tickets will be sold. The Pakistan Cricket Board had said in a statement, “With a socially distant seating plan cricket fans can now be a part of the game again as both HBL PSL 6 venues Karachi and Lahore will have 20% of the total seating capacity of the stadiums available for the spectators.”

This basically means that 7,500 spectators will be allowed for the 20 matches in Karachi while for the other 14 matches, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will have 5,500 tickets available. It was also revealed that the PCB has signed an agreement with the e-ticketing platform, bookme.pk, for selling the tickets of PSL 2021. The ticket sales have started on Wednesday, at 10 AM.

For the Karachi leg, the ticket prices will start from PKR 500 and will go up to PKR 3,000. The VIP stand tickets have been priced at PKR 3,000, while the first-class stand tickets have been priced at PKR 2,000. The premium stand tickets have been priced at PKR 1,000 and the general stand tickets will go for PKR 500. For the Lahore leg matches, the prices are exactly the same.

The entire process of getting the tickets was explained in a press release by Pakistan Cricket Board. “Fans can also call Bookme helpline (03137786888) to book their tickets for which CNIC number and ‘phone number will be mandatory,” the PCB said in a press release.

“When the match ticket has been confirmed, the customer will be sent a token number on the registered ‘phone so that the customer can make the payment at the closest Jazzcash/Easypaisa shop. Upon payment, the customer will receive an e-ticket code along with a Quick Response (QR) Code, which the customer can use to print the ticket or show the SMS at the entry gate on match day.”
