Saurashtra and Kerala were the only two teams to have pulled off a victory in Groups A and B in the second round of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. Courtesy a better run rate, Saurashtra is now on the top of the points table in that group. With two huge wins, Uttar Pradesh top the Group C while it is Sikkim at the helm in the Plate group.

On the fourth day, Jalaj Saxena became the only Indian to score a century and pick an 8-wicket haul in the same game twice. Except for the game between Goa and Jammu & Kashmir, all other matches yielded a result in Group C. There was no play possible on the last day in the game between Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. Similar was the case with the Puducherry-Meghalaya match, where only a few overs were bowled throughout the day.

Uttar Pradesh’s Shivam Mavi looked impressive with a 5-wicket haul. The best batting performance of this round came from Akshath Reddy who scored 250 runs, the highest score thus far in this season. Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial knock of an unbeaten 48 under pressure to help his team bag a 3-wicket win.
