Many stalwart batting performances were recorded on Day 2 in the ninth round of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2019-20. After witnessing many individual batting performances on the first day, Day 2 also witnessed many batsmen continuing their run-scoring spree. Meghalaya declared their innings against Arunachal Pradesh after amassing a mammoth total of 576/9 on the scoreboard.

Puneet Bisht’s brilliant knock coupled with Ravi Teja’s 130-run innings has put their side on the driving seat. Post a robust batting performance, Meghalaya’s bowling unit also scalped early wickets to leave Arunachal Pradesh 115/5 at the stumps on Day 2.

After posting a massive total of 672 runs on the boar, Chandigarh‘s bowling force wreaked havoc on Manipur by decimating their side at a meagre total of 63 runs in the first innings. After Chandigarh enforced the follow on, Manipur amassed 33 runs on the board without the loss of any wicket at stumps on Day 2.

In the encounter between Delhi and Rajasthan, the former’s batting unit exhibited strong batting performance after their three players– Hiten Dalal, Kshitiz Sharma and Kunwar Bidhuri smashed centuries. In reply, Rajasthan’s batting force had no answers to Delhi’s brilliant display as they lost their four wickets at 92 runs at the stumps.

Meanwhile, Goa registered victory against Mizoram on Day 2 itself after thumping the latter in both the innings. After gathering 490 runs on the board in their first innings, Goa were successful in curbing Mizoram to the totals of 109 and 170 in their first and second innings respectively. Smit Patel garnered all the attention in the match by smashing a double ton to propel Goa to a mammoth total. However, the Man of the Match was awarded to the Goa skipper– Amit Verma for his all-round performance.

Puducherry also exhibited a brilliant batting performance against Nagaland as they posted 517 runs on the board at the stumps. Arun Karthik (98) and Paras Dogra (125) emerged as the top performers for Puducherry along with Sagar Udeshi (79) and Fabid Ahmed (70).

After facing a debacle in the first innings, Baroda retaliated and posted a total of 208/5 against Karnataka at the culmination of Day 2. Ahmadnoor Pathan (90) and Deepak Hooda (50) stuck in the middle to stabilize Baroda’s batting force. Abhimanyu Rajput also played a gritty knock of 31*.
