From Mohammad Azharuddin to MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood has seen a variety of movies based on these world-class players so much so that it created a brand new genre of Biopics in Indian cinema. This time around, its the famous underdog tale of 1983 World Cup winning squad of India which is all set to hit the theaters.

Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh is all set to portray the role of the then Indian captain Kapil Dev who engineered the Indian victory with exemplary contributions during the tournament with both bat and ball.

The established actor who began his acting career opposite to Anushka Sharma in the hit movie Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010, went on to deliver blockbusters one after the other in the recent years namely, Goliyon Ki Raas Leela – Ram Leela, Ladies vs Ricky Behl, Bajirao Mastaani (for which he went on to receive the prestigious National Awards and various accolades).

The star was scheduled to meet the entire roster of the Indian team who managed to clinch the coveted trophy. Ranveer Singh took to Twitter to post a picture of him with the likes of Bishan Singh Bedi, Mohinder Amarnath, Madan Lal, Kapil Dev, Kirti Azad, Sandeep Patil, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Yashpal Sharma, and many others.
