India’s ace spinner in Tests, Ravichandran Ashwin, is renowned to be an intelligent cricketer. Whenever the name of Ashwin comes up in front of cricketing pundits, people would often hear terms such as a ‘thinking bowler’, or the ‘knowledgeable one’.

However, the recent tweet of his ensured that his capacity of thinking and knowledge is not only limited to the field, in fact, he holds an equal amount of adept off it. One of the many popular comic accounts on Twitter, by the name of Srini Mama, after the infamous owner of the CSK franchise, posed a factual question regarding the history of Indian cricket.

The date of November 9 would hold a special place in the life of Ravichandran Ashwin who bagged the man of the match award in his very first Test match with his 9-wicket haul against West Indies at Feroshah Kotla, Delhi. Therefore, the parody account of N Srinivasan posed an important question regarding the four cricketers along with Ashwin who have managed to clinch man of the match awards on debut.

“On this day in 2011, @ashwinravi99 became only the third Indian cricketer to win MOM on Test debut. As of today, 5 Indians have won MOM on debut. Who are the other four, Ash apart? #MamaAsk,” tweeted Srini Mama.

To which, Ashwin spontaneously answered by taking the names of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, RP Singh, and Pravin Amre.

Unable to fathom the response, Srini Mama tweeted in reply,”#KnowledgeableChennaiBoy gets it spot on. As a cricketer, you are not supposed to remember all these!”

Here’s the entire thread

One might think two of four must have been easy to remember for Ashwin as the two innings from Shikhar Dhawan at Mohali against the Aussies and Rohit Sharma against West Indies at Kolkata were two of the most memorable Test innings by the opening duo of limited overs cricket which unfolded in front of Ashwin as a member of the Indian team.
