There is a reason why the Indian team finished the league stage of the 2019 World Cup at the top. The choices made by the skipper and players have been spot on which has led the team in the right direction. Particularly the stylish Indian opener Rohit Sharma who is having a great time in the English summer. Along with his batting, the Mumbaikar has also been very wise with his choice of words in his recent post-match talks. After his fifth hundred of the tournament when Rohit was asked to comment on the “Jadeja-Manjrekar spat” the right-handed answered the question very smartly.

Recently, cricketer-turned-commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar had hogged limelight after his comments on Ravindra Jadeja’s skills. Immediately the all-rounder took to his twitter account and crucified the former India cricketer. Now it has become a heated debate in the country and Jadeja’s fellow cricketer Rohit was also asked about the incident.

The logistic managers have kept the team in the right frame of mind, opines Rohit

Of late, most of the time, Rohit has let his bat do the talking and it was clearly visible in his post-match press conference after the game against Sri Lanka. He came up with sharp replies to quirky questions and avoided unnecessary debriefing. The right-hander also provided his take on the “Jadeja-Manjrekar spat” and stated that he will not support any particular individual involved in the incident.

“See, that’s the challenge for the sportsman. All this distraction will happen, but every individual is different, and it depends on how he wants to think about that particular incident or situation. For me, like I said, I want to stay away from all of that and enjoy the beautiful weather in England.”

Rohit Sharma further added his family has helped him enjoy his cricket and that their logistic manager has kept the team in the right frame of mind. He harped on the fact that such situations will arise frequently in their career as they are representing one of the best cricket teams in the world. Finally, he made his point that their job is to play the game as honestly as possible and stay away from the other distractions.

“I have my family here as well. So most of the time I’m trying to do that rather than all those talks going around and things like that. Because as long as you’re playing, that will happen. And we have to have a logistic manager because a lot of people are staying in the same hotel, who want us to win the World Cup. Constantly yapping in anyone’s ear is not right. So I think for us as cricketers, it’s important to focus on the job at hand.”
