The cricket community over the past few months have come out to extend their full moral, financial and physical support to the victims of the Australian bush fires that have been troubling the continent for quite some time now. And, joining this cause of supporting the individuals and animals affected by this, are the two former Indian cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh.

Last month, the former Australian leg spinner, Shane Warne had auctioned his Australian Test cap, the ‘Baggy Green’ to raise funds for the same cause. The final selling price was 1 million dollars, all of which was donated by him, to extend his support to the bushfire affected people of his country. Also, Warne’s former teammates, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist are organising the ‘Bushfire Cricket Bash’, in Melbourne, that will be played on the 9th of February.

The stumps are from 2011 World Cup quarter-final

The match will see the participation of greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Andrew Symonds, Courtney Walsh, Brett Lee and Matthew Hayden including others. It will be a 10 over a side game, with the teams being led by Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist.

The proceedings from this match too will be sent off to be a part of the bushfire relief funds. Following the game, there will also be a T20 International match, which will be played between the Australian and England Women’s team.

Sachin and Yuvraj have also decided to do their bit to contribute more to this cause. The two players will be auctioning their stumps from the 2011 World Cup that was won by India, off on the same day as the match. The stumps will be given to the highest bidder and the amount collected will be given to the same fund that will get the proceedings from the match.

The stumps that will be put up on auction are from the quarter-final match of the 2011 World Cup, which was played between India and Australia. The Aussies had lost the match, owing to vital contributions from both Tendulkar and Yuvraj. In fact, Yuvraj was the Man of the Match in that particular encounter.
