Sana Mir, the former Pakistan Women’s team captain, bid adieu to her 14-year long International cricket on Saturday. The all-rounder took an indefinite break from International Cricket during November last year and missed being part of the recently concluded Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
Sana stands as the most successful captain of Pakistan Women and is also their most prolific bowler in International cricket. She featured in over 100 matches in both ODIs and T20Is but never got a chance to play Test cricket. Pakistan Women last played the longer format in 2004; a year before Sana’s International debut.
Here are all the major stats and numbers from Sana Mir’s 14-year International career:
1 – Sana Mir is the only player with more than 200 wickets in International cricket for Pakistan Women. Her 240 wickets in Internationals are the joint 5th most for any player. Jhulan Goswami (321), Ellyse Perry (297), Katherine Brunt (274) and Anisa Mohammed (271) are ahead of Mir in the list of leading wicket-takers in Women’s Internationals.
3 – Sana is one of the three players to take a hat-trick for Pakistan in Women’s Internationals. She took a hat-trick during a T20I in 2015 against Sri Lanka at the Sharjah Cricket Ground. Asmavia Iqbal during the 2012 T20I against England Women and Shaiza Khan during the 2004 Karachi Test against West Indies Women are the other hat-tricks recorded for Pakistan Women in Internationals.
5/32 – Sana Mir’s 5/32 against the Netherlands in 2010 Potchefstroom ODI is her lone 5-fer in Internationals. These are the 2nd best bowling figures in the ODI format for Pakistan Women. Sajjida Shah took 7 wickets for 4 runs in her 8 overs during the 2003 Amsterdam ODI against Japan.
6 – Sana Mir is one of the six players in Women’s International cricket to have scored over 2000 runs and also pick 200+ wickets. Lisa Sthalekar, Stafanie Taylor, Ellyse Perry, Jenny Gunn and Shashikala Siriwardene are the other five players with this double.
9 – As many as nine players in Women’s ODI cricket including Sana have taken 100+ wickets alongside scoring 1000 runs. However, Sana Mir and Ellyse Perry are the only players with 1500+ runs and 150+ wickets in Women’s ODIs.
12 – Sana has claimed 4-wicket hauls on 12 occasions in Limited-overs Internationals; the 2nd most in Women’s International limited-overs formats behind Anisa Mohammed’s 19 four-fers.
She took eight of them in ODI cricket; the joint 3rd most in Women’s ODIs and shares the 2nd spot in the list of most 4-fers in Women’s T20Is with Ellyse Perry for the four 4-fers. Anisa leads this list as well with seven 4-wicket hauls in Women’s limited-overs International matches.
52 – Pakistan Women won as many as 52 International matches under Sana Mir’s captaincy – 26 in ODIs and 26 in T20Is; the most wins as captain for Pakistan in both formats. She led her country in 65 ODIs and 72 T20Is while no other player has captained Pakistan Women even 40 games in any format.
89 – The 89 wickets of Sana in T20Is are the joint 7th most by any bowler in Women’s T20Is. Among Pakistan Women, Sana’s 89 wickets are next only to Nida Dar’s 98 wickets.
151 – Sana Mir has bagged a total of 151 wickets in ODIs which makes her one of the six Women with 150+ ODI wickets. No other Pakistan Woman has even picked up 100 wickets in ODIs. Sana ends her ODI career as the joint-most prolific spinner as Anisa Mohammed also claimed 151 wickets.
226 – Sana featured in 226 matches in International cricket; the most by any player for Pakistan’s Women team. She appeared in 120 ODIs which are the most by any Pakistan player in Women’s cricket while the 106 T20Is she played is next only to Bismah Maroof’s 108 matches for Pakistan Women.
