Former Pakistani skipper Wasim Akram has come up with some very logical advice for the current skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. Sarfraz has been in the news headlines for the past few hours owing to all the unwanted reasons. The Pakistani skipper was caught passing racist comments during the recently played second ODI against South Africa.

During the course of the game, a frustrated Sarfraz Ahmed failed to keep his calm when the South African batters were cruising towards the target. Miffed with the way the batters were riding their luck against the Pakistani bowlers and the fielders, Sarfraz ended up passing remarks, which were utterly disgraceful, and on the racial lines.

Little did Sarfraz know that his remarks would be caught on the stump microphone. The commentator was quick to pick it up, and he even asked Ramiz Raja, the other commentator to translate the same. Ramiz played safe and ensured that he defended this blow by calling it a sentence ‘too long to be translated’.

After the match, Sarfraz extended his apology on Twitter and exclaimed that he did not aim to hurt the sentiments of any player. His remarks were purely in the heat of the moment and the aggression took over his calmness.

‘Sarfraz is a role model’

Now, Wasim Akram has come up with a word of advice for the Pakistani captain. In a chat show, Wasim was asked about his views on the episode. To this, he responded, “Sarfraz Ahmed is a role model for the whole country, he should have been more responsible.”

He cited that such mistakes can well be acceptable when someone is new to the team, or is young, or is perhaps touring for the first time. Such comments coming from a veteran like Sarfraz is not acceptable. Adding further on the same note, he remarked that Sarfraz should have known about the microphones. He pointed out his example that during his playing days, he always knew where the mic was, and hence, had a stable head knowing what to say and what not to say in the proximity of the mic.
