Former cricketer Michael Vaughan lashed out at the England cricketers for their approach towards skipper Joe Root after the Brits lost the third Ashes Test by an innings and 14 runs. The game at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground lasted for a tad over two days as the visitors couldn’t show much fight, especially in the bowling department.

England were bowled out for a paltry 68 in their second innings and it took only 12.4 overs for Australia to take the remaining six English wickets in the first session on Day three. Vaughan was a tad agitated for the fact that the Three Lions’ cricketers abandoned Root during press conferences and other media interactions.

The captain’s going to answer all the questions, says Michael Vaughan

“What I didn’t like, when Joe Root was doing the press and doing the interview with Gilly, and I didn’t see any other England players out there. I didn’t like that. I didn’t like the fact that the England players – they went straight down into the dressing room. They’re embarrassed,” Vaughan was quoted as saying in Fox Cricket.

“And of course, you’re embarrassed. You’ve just performed poorly; you’ve just been bowled out for 68. Show face; get on the pitch; support your captain. The captain’s going to answer all the questions now; he has done. Well, his team have got to be right beside him even in the tough times,” he stated.

Vaughan was also clear cut in saying that England haven’t been able to find their feet at all in the ongoing five-match Test series. He also lauded the Aussies for playing with a lot of precision.

“England – they’ve got some big problems. That was embarrassing. They’re a group of players that pride themselves on competing, and they’ve just not managed to find any kind of consistency or skill,” Vaughan added.

The fourth and penultimate Test of the series is set to get underway on January 5 at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. Having lost the Melbourne Test, England have also lost the series with two games remaining. Root has also come under fire of late for not being able to lead his team effectively.
