South Africa continued exhaling dominance on their soil as they thumped India by an innings and 32 runs in the series opener in Centurion. While there turned out to be numerous match-winners for the hosts in their clinical victory, debutant Nandre Burger's show gained traction as he picked seven crucial wickets to lead the victory road for Proteas along with Kagiso Rabada and Dean Elgar.

Seasoned South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi joined the talk to applaud the man of the moment, Burger, in a rather humorous manner. Ngidi took to his Instagram story and added, "I mean who doesn't like a burger."

The South African debutant unsettled Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in the first innings before accounting for the big fish KL Rahul, India's only light in horror-filled Centurion. The 28-year-old began from where he left in the first innings to further tighten his grip on the already struggling Indian batters.

Somebody like Nandre coming to the fore, that has been the shining light: Elgar

When Virat Kohli tried to hold one end tight to give a ray of hope to the visitors, Burger choked batters from the other end, to have four victims this time. The pacer trapped Jaiswal and KL Rahul once again to conclude his maiden outing with seven wickets under his belt. Stand-in skipper, Elgar, was effusive in Burger's praise and labelled him the shining light for the team.

"Massive effort by bowlers to pick up 20 wickets. It was quite juicy. You have got to keep it nice and simple. You need fast bowlers and spinners, ultimately you need those 20 wickets to win the series. That superb first spell by Rabada, and somebody like Nandre coming to the fore. That has been the shining light. Really a great team effort. Playing a two-test series, you can't win if you don't win the first one," said stand-in skipper Dean Elgar after winning the first Test.
