India batter Shreyas Iyer has headed for scans after complaining of pain in his lower back during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Team India and Australia have locked horns for the fourth and final Test match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Rohit Sharma-led team India could be handed with a blow as Shreyas Iyer has complained of pain in his lower back. It is understood that Iyer communicated to the management regarding his discomfort following the third day’s play.
Furthermore, the BCCI medical team is currently monitoring the situation and the batter has gone for scans to understand the gravity of his discomfort. An official statement is yet to be released by the management as it remains to be seen if the batter is given the green light by the medical team to resume play.
Team India lose Ravindra Jadeja early on Day 4
Speaking about the match, India drew curtains on Day 3 with a score of 289/3 with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja on the crease. The duo raised a 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket at the start of Day 4. However, the tourists got the early scalp of Jadeja when the batter tried to loft down the ground but a mistimed shot saw the ball float straight to Khawaja at mid-on.
Srikar Bharat joined Kohli at the crease after Iyer complained of discomfort in his back. Team India are on the cusp of minimising the deficit and getting closer to the first innings total set by the visitors. Meanwhile, Kohli has carved out a delicate half-century and is on course to score big on Day 4.
Furthermore, Rohit Sharma and Co. are on the lookout to obtain a result in their favour considering that the ICC World Test Championship final is at stake. A win in the fourth and final Test in Ahmedabad will see them through to the summit clash of the event which is scheduled to be played on June 7 at The Oval.
