Punjab Kings posted a fine total of 219/5 on the board after being reduced to 34/3 at one stage in their innings in the 59th match of the IPL 2025 against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. A great batting performance was possible due to the knocks from Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh, catalysed by Azmatullah Omarzai's cameo.
PBKS lost the wicket of Priyansh Arya early, who scored just 9 off seven balls, falling prey to Tushar Deshpande. While Prabhsimran Singh hit some blows and scored 21(10), he and Mitchell Owen were undone in quick succession, which reduced the visiting side to 34/3 in no time. What followed was the recovery from the 2014 runner-ups, who were helped by the partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera.
While the skipper perished after a score of 30(25), Wadhera continued and played the best knock of his career. The Southpaw scored 70 runs off just 37 balls, which included five fours and as many sixes as well, at a terrific strike rate of 189.18. By the time the youngster was dismissed, PBKS was in a good position to finish the innings, as finishers Shashank Singh and Azmatullah Omarzai made the most of the recovery.

I think the preparations happen in the nets. The way the players play in the nets, they play similarly in the game. It is quite hot today, but the surface is looking good. We have good bowlers, I am pretty sure we are going to nail this game."
