Team India’s ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign came to an abrupt end after an embarrassing loss to England by a margin of 10 wickets in the semi-final fixture. As the side were put to bat first by the English skipper Jos Buttler, two wickets fell in quick time putting the middle order under pressure.

However, thanks to the fifties coming from Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, the Men in Blue managed to get a respectable total on the scoreboard in their 20 overs. That said, the score felt inferior to the English batters and the openening duo – Jos Buttler and Alex Hales made short work of the total and chased it in just 16 overs with a 170-run stand.

The flamboyant right-hander, Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in sensational form throughout the year, failed to get the vital runs for the side in the high-octane clash. Like the rest of the Indians, the India batter was gutted as he took to social media to post a message ‘thanking’ fans for the support.

“Hurtful loss. So close, yet so far. Grateful to our fans who create electrifying atmosphere, no matter where in the world we are. Thankful and proud of the unending support for each other and the hard work put in by this team and support staff. Proud to play for my country. We will reflect and come back stronger,” read Surya's post on Instagram.

England to play Pakistan in summit clash

The Three Lions and the Men in Green are set to play the summit clash on Sunday, November 13 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). While both sides have won the title once earlier, any side who ends up clinching the title this edition down under will equalize West Indies’ record of two titles in the showpiece event. An interesting contest awaits as both sides will look to fire all cylinders and give it their best shot to clinch the coveted title.
