Indian audiences experienced a relativeness when the Indian Premier League was broadcast in several regional languages. The cash-rich league was viewed in 12 languages nationwide and was mainly enjoyed in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Odia, Marathi, Haryanvi, Bihari, Punjabi and Gujarati apart from mainstream Hindi and English. For the unversed, a gully cricket game in Bengaluru has conveyed a different message, as commentary in Sanskrit during the game has gone viral.
Sanskrit is the ancient language as many religious dogmas were written using the language. It is believed that some English words are also derived from Sanskrit vocabulary. Muttur, a town 300 km away from Bengaluru, is revered as ‘Sanskrit Village’ due to its avid usage. As the video of Arun Kumar Kalagi’s commentary went viral, the talks over language’s beauty emerged. The cricketing event was organised by a language learning platform Sthaayi and was catered by Karnataka Sanskrit University.

The video has garnered much attention owing to its peculiarity where mainstream languages dominate the way content is consumed. The clip has over 2.8 million views, 283,000 likes, and a barrage of comments in praise. It is worth noting that, Arun Kumar was also the Sanskrit teacher at the Vivekananda School in Bengaluru.
