After surprising everyone with their play in the first match, South Africa will be hoping to level the series on Tuesday. Many questioned their approach in the death overs as Hashim Amla and Rassie van der Dussen didn’t look to up the ante and they eventually ended up on a below-par score which they thought would be enough at the half-way mark. It was a clear misreading of the conditions on their behalf and Pakistan pounced on it smartly.
The visitors, for the first time on the tour, are looking like the strongest team among the two and this is the best chance for them to stamp their authority. Though there would be worries in the bowling department which only managed to pick a couple of wickets in Port Elizabeth. The Proteas are unlikely to commit a similar mistake again and the wickets in the middle-overs are must in this format.
Moreover, there were concerns over Usman Khan’s fitness in the series opener which might lead to him missing this game with either Shaheen Afridi or Mohammad Amir making it to the XI.

Power Picks:
Kagiso Rabada 18 wickets from ten ODIs since the home ODI series against India. He has picked two four-fers and the same number of three-wicket hauls in this period. The fast bowler will also be looking to make amends after failing in the first game.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Faf du Plessis has scored 279 runs from five ODIs at Durban including two centuries. He didn’t get to bat in the series opener but will definitely get an opportunity at his favourite venue. Imam is also in good touch with the willow and could be considered for one of the multiplier options. Van der Dussen and Hendricks are the other players to be considered for captain and vice-captain.
