Sydney Thunder emerged as the champions of the Big Bash League season 5 after they successfully chased down the target set by Melbourne Stars, in a heartbreaking final, in which Sydney Thunder player Usman Khawaja was named as Man of the Match. Chris Lynn was chosen as the Player of the tournament for his tremendous batting performance throughout the tournament.
Here are some of the statistical highlights of Big Bash League’s 2015-16 season.
18 – Number of Wickets taken by CJ McKay in BBL-05 while playing for Sydney Thunder which was most by any bowler when compared to other bowlers. He has taken 18 wickets from 10 matches.
27 – Number of Sixes hit by Chris Lynn which is highest among other batsmen. He hit 27 sixes in 8 matches while playing for Brisbane Heat.
9 – Number of Sixes hit by Travis Head in a single innings of a match which is highest no. of sixes hit by a batsman when compared to others in a single innings. He hit nine sixes against Adelaide Strikers on 31st December, 2015.
172.50 – Usman Khawaja’s Average in this year’s BBL – best among other batsmen who have played at least 4 innings in this season. He scored 345 runs in 4 matches that he played for Sydney Thunder.
186.86 – Andre Russell’s Strike Rate in this year’s BBL – best among other batsmen who have played at least 9 balls in this season. He scored 185 runs by playing 99 balls in 10 matches that he played for Sydney Thunder.
4 – Number of Fifty plus runs scored by Usman Khawaja in this years’s BBL which is most compared to other batsmen barring Chris Lynn and Kevin Pietersen who have also scored same number of fifty plus scores in this year’s BBL.
3 – Number of Times Lendl Simmons out on duck which is most compared to other batsmen. He had these 3 ducks in 8 matches that he played for Brisbane Heat.
329.41 – Chris Gayle’s Strike Rate in an innings of a match which is best among other batsmen who have at least played 10 balls in an innings of a match. He had this strike rate of 329.41 against Adelaide Strikers. In this innings, he scored 56 runs in 17 balls by hitting two 4s and seven 6s.
202 – Number of runs made by Sydney Thunder in an innings of a match which was the highest total made by any team in an innings in this year’s BBL. Sydney Thunder scored this runs against Sydney Sixers on 16th January, 2016 at Sydney.
109* – runs Usman Khawaja and Luke Wright had scored in an innings of a match which is highest runs scored by a player in an innings of a match in this year’s BBL. Khawaja scored 109* runs against Melbourne Stars in 70 balls while Luke Wright scored 109* runs in 63 balls against Melbourne Renegades.
21 – Number of Extras conceded by Sydney Thunder against Brisbane Heat on 3 January, 2016 at Brisbane which was the most no. of extras conceded by any team in an innings of a match against any other team in this year’s BBL.
8 – Number of Catches taken by CJ Green in 8 matches that he played for Sydney Thunder which was most by any player in this year’s BBL.
171* – runs gathered by Shaun Marsh and Michel Klinger in a match against Melbourne Renegades while playing for Perth Scorchers on 30th December, 2015 at Melbourne which was the highest stand in this year’s BBL for any wicket.
6.37 – Economy Rate at which Brisbane Heat’s S Badree and Melbourne Stars’ Michael Beer had given their runs – best among other bowlers who had bowled at least 9 overs in this year’s BBL. Both of these players had bowled 32 overs for their respective teams in this year’s BBL.
10.00 – Strike Rate at which M Stoinis of Melbourne Stras had taken his wickets – best among other bowlers who had at least 15 overs in this year’s BBL. He had taken 9 wickets in 10 matches at a strike rate of 10.00.
13 – Number of Dismissals P Handscomb had in this year’s BBL – best among other wicket-keepers. He had 13 dismissals in 10 matches while playing for Melbourne Stars and out of 13 dismissals, 3 of them were stumpings and 10 of them were catches.
39 – Number of fours hit by Usman Khawaja in this year’s BBL which was most when compared to other batsmen. He had hit 39 fours in 4 matches while playing for Sydney Thunder.
2.75 – Economy rate at which CP Tremain had completed his quota of four overs in a match against Hobart Hurricanes while playing for Melbourne Renegades on 4 January, 2016 at Hobart, which was the best economy rate of a bowler who had completed his quota of four overs in an innings of a match. In this innings he had given only 11 runs by picking ip one wicket with one maiden.
57 – Runs given by Sean Abbott in his 3.3 overs against Adelaide Strikers while playing for Sydney Sixers on 31st December, 2015 at Adelaide which was highest runs given by a bowler in an innings of a match in this year’s BBL.
95 – Amount of Margin in terms of runs Sydney Sixers had beaten Hobart Hurricanes on 20th December, 2015 which was the largest victory of any team in terms of runs in this year’s BBL.
238 – Number of Balls faced by Tim Ludeman in this year’s BBL which was most by a batsman when compared to other batsmen. He had faced 238 balls in 9 matches that he played for Adelaide Strikers.
378 – Runs scored by Chris Lynn while playing for Brisbane Heat in 8 matches which was most among other batsmen in this year’s BBL. He had scored this runs at an average of 54.00 and strike rate of 173.39.
