Indian selectors on Tuesday announced the squad for the UK tour, that starts on 27th of June. There are quite a few interesting names in the squad. Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Siddarth Kaul has been picked in both ODI and T20I squads for the tour where the team will first play Ireland and then England. He impressed one and all with his variations, line and length as well as accuracy in the ongoing Indian Premier League season.

With the form he is in, Kaul might get a chance to feature in the playing XI right from the start of the tour. This will be the first time Kaul will be travelling to England. He was asked to react when he heard the news of his selection. He termed it a ‘surreal feeling’ and is eager to win matches for his national team.

“I just switched on my phone and bhai (Uday) called to tell me the news. It is a surreal feeling. I am just answering calls now,” Kaul told TOI. “This will be the first time that I will be playing in England. I have heard pitches there suit bowlers. If I get a chance to play, I would love to win matches for my team and country, but my focus is on IPL for now,” he said.

Credited Bhuvi for the improvements he made

Kaul further credited his fellow IPL teammate and senior pro from in the national team Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the variations he improved recently. He’s representing SRH for the third consecutive season and called his inspiration Bhuvneshwar the smartest bowler in the world.

“This is my third season for Sunrisers and I owe Bhuvi a lot. I think he is the smartest bowler in the world, he is an inspiration for me. He keeps helping me, even in nets,” added Kaul.

Team India will tour Ireland for a two-match T20I series on 27th and 29th of June. The side will then travel to England for three-match T20I series, three-match ODI series and a five-match Test series, which will end in September 2018. Virat Kohli is set to miss the first T20I against Ireland owing to his county commitments. Rohit Sharma might take over the captaincy role in that game.
