T20 action just never takes a pause in India and after a remarkable edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the fans now have the T20 Mumbai League 2019 to watch out for. With Mumbai Indians winnings the grandiose tournament for the fourth time in their history, this tournament is bound to garner some attention.

Another two teams have been added to the inaugural season’s tally, making it eight teams for the 2019 edition. The two additions will represent the constituencies of Mumbai Western Suburbs and Mumbai Eastern Suburbs. The Triumphant Nights representing the North East Mumbai region reigned supreme last time and will be hoping to do retain the title.

Some very attractive names associated with Mumbai and Indian cricket will be taking part in this tournament to help young talents nurture themselves. This could also work as a gateway for them to enter the IPL in the future. Here is a list of five big names who be adding glamour to this season of T20 Mumbai League with their presence.

1. Shreyas Iyer (NaMo Bandra Blasters):

Shreyas Iyer led his franchise in the IPL to a third-place finish and managed to register 463 runs with the willow. It’d be fair to say he’s in golden form and is definitely going to be a huge figure in Indian cricket in the coming seasons. He will be representing and captaining the NaMo Bandra Blasters in the T20 ML.

There’s a lot of young talent in the squad to go with the experience of Iyer. If his approach as a leader for the Delhi Capitals in the 2019 edition is anything to go by, he will be banking on the young talents big time to take charge of the pressure-cooker situations. Without a shadow of a doubt, he’s the most attractive player in the tournament this season.

2. Prithvi Shaw (North Mumbai Panthers):

Maybe the pressure of expectations got into Prithvi Shaw‘s head ahead of the IPL 2019, but the youngster did put up a show in the playoffs with a splendid half-century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He might not be in the best of form right now, but the Mumbaikar is one of the most promising talents to watch out for Indian cricket and he will be hogging a lot of limelight in this tournament.

He will be representing the North Mumbai Panthers this edition alongside another famous name in Indian cricket, Pravin Tambe. Shaw will be leading his side and given his success with the Indian team in the Under 19 World Cup, a lot will be expected of him. This will be one great opportunity for the 20-year-old to redeem himself after a modest outing in the IPL.

3. Suryakumar Yadav (Triumphs Knights MNE):

Suryakumar Yadav was under severe criticism during his time with the Mumbai Indians this season having not scored a lot of runs. Yet he showed up towards the business end of the tournament, scoring a crucial half-century against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the final group stage game and a 54-ball 71 against CSK in the first qualifier.

Suryakumar will be leading the Triumphs Knights MNE in the tournament. Maharashtra batsman Royston Dias is another familiar name in the side and the onus will be on these both to lead the franchise to glory. For a long time he has been hunting for a place in team India but it will be pretty difficult for him if he doesn’t keep collect runs at regular intervals in every tournament he plays.

4. Sarfaraz Khan (Eagle Thane Strikers)

Sarfaraz Khan made his way into the Mumbai Ranji side at a very young age but later moved on to Uttar Pradesh in search of better opportunities. The youngster was also retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2018 season but moved on to the Kings XI Punjab in 2019. He had an almost decent outing with the bat, registering a few worthwhile cameos.

Sarfaraz needs to score some big runs to get recognized and the T20 Mumbai League could provide a great opportunity for him to bat higher up the order. He will be representing the Eagle Thane Strikers and will be accompanied by some familiar names like Aditya Tare and Shardul Thakur. He will be keen to work on some of his weak areas through this tournament and get better before the domestic season kick-starts.

5. Arjun Tendulkar (Aakash Tigers)

Life is definitely not easy for star kids, who have to constantly tackle the nepotism remarks wherever they go. It gets even more difficult if you’re the son of Sachin Tendulkar, as the whole world tends to keep an eye on you. Arjun Tendulkar was a part of the U19 Indian side for a while but that didn’t work well in his favour, eventually, he was ousted from the squad.

As he takes the next few steps in his professional career, he will have to make his mark in the T20 Mumbai League, where he will be representing the Aakash Tigers. An all-rounder Arjun will be sharing the dressing room with the experienced Dhawal Kulkarni and that might as well help his left-arm seam bowling. With no real star players present in the side, this is indeed a great opportunity for Arjun to take the onus on himself and become a top performer.
